Late Breaking News - UNB recruiting pays off

In late breaking news, GM Dave Bluteau reports that the Varsity Reds Old Stars have landed three prized recruits from Fredericton.
Heading to Halifax to join UNB's line-up are Dax MacLean, Ryan Burgoyne and Stacey Smallman all star players during their varsity careers.

MacLean,originally from Miramichi, ranked as UNB's all time leading scorer until recently displaced by Rob Hennigar. In 97-98 he was selected as an All-Canadian and now is coaching the Fredericton AAA midget team while working at his alma mater.

Smallman, native of O'Leary PEI, began his 4 year UNB career in 2003 after playing a season in the East Coast League. Burgoyne, fromHamilton ONT, started his UNB career in 1997 and after 2 seasons turned pro for two years. In 2002 Burgoyne returned to UNB and finished off his four year career, Burgoyne is now a lawyer in Fredericton

Both Smallman and Burgoyne were key contributors to recent UNB national championship teams.
