CHANGES FOR 2008
• All 10 AUS/AUAA hockey programs are represented this year, featuring the return of the UPEI Panthers and the STU Tommies after a one year hiatus in 2007.
• Games will be 2 x 20 minute running periods. Tested last year in the Championship Round, this format received positive support and will be used for all games this year.
Our gracious Molson hosts have AGAIN made exceptional selections for staging the 3 After-Parties.
FRIDAY SEPT 26 @ 10pm
The ARGYLE BAR & GRILL will be the scene for the opening night party beginning immediately after conclusion of the last game at Alumni Arena. A very popular nite-spot, the Argyle will provide surroundings conducive to teams who wish to have ‘bonding’ time together.
Make sure to pick up your ‘free’ Molson beer ticket from your team coordinator before heading to the ARGYLE.
SATURDAY SEPT 27
1. Tournament Awards Ceremonies – 9pm
Staged again this year at the Tower Courtside Lounge, make sure you stop in to take in the tournament awards and the wrap-up of the silent auction and the special ‘fundraising raffle’
Again, make sure you pick up your ‘free’ Molson beer ticket from your team coordinator before heading to the Tower.
2. Wrap Up After Party @ Pogue Fado – 11pm
One of Halifax’s most popular bars, ‘The Pogue’ will again welcome the Molson Old Stars for a return engagement.
SPECIAL FUNDRAISING RAFFLE
With the help of SMU hockey alumnus Shawn Redmond (VP Marketing at TSN), a special fundraising RAFFLE DRAW will be conducted to benefit the Education Fund established for the daughter of SMU Hockey Huskies alumnus ROB GUINN. This past July, the popular ‘Guinner’ was killed in a tragic car accident in Jefferson Iowa. Rob is survived by Brooke, his wife of 19 months and by their nine-month-old daughter.
Raffle Draw prizes include a team autographed Team Canada jersey from the IIHF men’s hockey championships.
Watch for ticket sellers throughout tournament weekend.
Through a partnership of Reebok and Molson, each player will receive a long sleeve, high performance RBK tee.
And yes, its a very ‘cool’ looking ‘black’ tee .
Continuing a tradition started last year, 50% of the net proceeds from the 2 day silent auction will again be donated to KidSport NS, an agency that helps under-privileged kids play sport. With your generous support last year, almost $1,000 was donated to KidSport. This year lets push this total higher…. so more kids can play more sports!.
