Most people who know University hockey in Canada would agree....the AUS (Atlantic University Sport) is home to the BEST university hockey conference in the country, annually producing a galaxy of premier and elite players. In fact over the past 5 years, the AUS league champions have gone on to capture the CIS National Championship - UNB 3 times and Saint Mary's once, marking the first national championship in the Huskies history.

Established in 2003, the MOLSON UNIVERSITY OLD STAR HOCKEY CHALLENGE provides former star varsity players an opportunity to enjoy a hockey reunion with their alma mater teammates in a fun-filled alumni hockey tournament.

Beginning modestly in 2003 with 4 University alumni teams from Nova Scotia, today the tournament has grown into a 10 team format with 18 games over 2 days.The inaugural championship was captured by Saint Mary's Huskies. In Year II, DAL claimed the Molson Cup trophy with the Huskies regaining the title in 2005. Again in 2006, the Dal Tigers were the tournament champions. Over the first 4 years, SMU and DAL have each won the title 2 times.

In 2007, the string of DAL and Saint Mary's championships was broken as ACADIA rose to the challenge, defeating SMU. And in 2008, Uiversite de Moncton captured their first Molson Cup championship. In 2009, again a new champion was crowned as the UPEI Panthers, road the outstanding performances of Tournament Leading Scorer Craig Foster and Tournament MVP goaltender Paul Drew to capture the Molson Cup.
The 2010 tournament championship was again captured by the Dal Tigers in dramatic fashion as Jason Troini bested SMU's goalie Mike Weatherbie for the shoot out winner! The goal made Dal the tournament's first 3 time winner.

The Molson University Old Star Hockey Challenge is owned and managed by Larsen Marketing Solutions, one of Atlantic Canada's leading Event Management companies.
